Global Youth Fighting HIV and AIDS
The Swedish based Face of AIDS Foundation, documenting the global AIDS epidemic on film since 1987, has been assigned by the International AIDS Society and the Royal Thai Government to produce the official Opening Film for the XV International AIDS Conference in Bangkok, July 11-16, 2004.
The title of the film is "Global Youth Fighting HIV and AIDS" abd portrays eight young people all around the world, all of them personally involved in the fight against AIDS.

The Opening Film
The Opening Film is eleven minutes long, focusing on young people involved in the global fight against HIV and AIDS. The film is highlighting young people’s right to access to information about HIV and AIDS and reproductive health. The film portrays eight young persons, all of them involved in the local fight against HIV and AIDS.
Sibu, 20, from Cape Town, South Africa, is involved in the Love Life project. She thinks that it is very important to involve young people in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Also she thinks that adult people must respect young people´s experiences and attitudes.
Lisa, 23, from Paris, France, is active in an annual youth festival in Paris (kolla med adam vad den heter). The profit of this festival goes to AIDS prevention among African youth´s. xx is frustrated that it is easy to get much money for making wars, but very difficult to get money to stop AIDS in the world.
Sergei, 22 in Kiev, Ukraine, has used drugs during eight years. He is HIV infected. He was a heroin addict and shared needles with his young friends. One day he met a priest and started to believe in God, and suddenly he stopped using drugs and heroin. He has been drug free since 2002. Now he helps young drug addicts in Kiev to stop taking drugs and sharing needles.
Oon, 17 from Rayong, Thailand outside Bangkok, was HIV- infected by her mother when she was born. Then the mother died of AIDS. Since seven years, On lives in an orphanage for HIV-infected children in Rayong, called the Camilian Social Center. She takes her anti retro virals every day. Her dream is that all people living with HIV or AIDS should have free access to anti retro virals.

Noelle, 17, from Kingston, Jamaica, is a radio talk show host. Her weekly radio show targets teenagers. They call in and ask about HIV, AIDS, sex and reproductive health. She thinks young people have to be both mentally and physically prepared to start engage in sex.
Victor, 21, Stockholm, is working with sex education and reproductive health among young people in Sweden. He is active in the Swedish NGO RFSU. He thinks that gay, bisexual and transexual people are discrininated all over the world. If these people also gets infected with HIV, they live with a double stigma. He thinks is is very important to fight discrimation and rejudice and that young people have the right to their own sexuality.
Oracle, 20 from the Botswana capital Goborone, is star in a local hip hop group. His group tours high schools and youth centers and advocate safe sex and AIDS prevention messages. He thinks it is a big problem that teenagers and parents can not speak openly about sex.
Dileep, 19, New Dehli, is involved in the MAMTA youth project. His group target young people in the city, and they perform street theatre and do seminars with youth´s about sexuality and HIV/AIDS. he thinks that adult people must listen much more to young people and what they have to say.
Each young person in the film have a personal message to present. The film is directed by Swedish film director Staffan Hildebrand, who is the founder and the Creative Director of the Face of AIDS Foundation. Mr Hildebrand has done 23 international AIDS documentaries since 1987.
